Bath

Well, we've gotten a little behind on posting. Internet connections have been spotty. We're now in the Lake District at the second cottage, where we can get internet if we stand outside in the yard. It's currently about 40 degrees - so we'll see how many things I get posted.
Last Thursday, we went to Bath. For me, it's the land of Jane Austen and Regency romances. And we saw some of that. But we started at the Abbey. The Abbey was actually founded in the 900's. Here's the cathedral.

Bath, of course, was originally the site of a Roman settlement. The Roman's discovered the only hot springs in England and created a social and religious center at their site. Years later the site of the baths were uncovered by archeologists and it again became a important site for entertainment among the British aristocracy. Here's the baths.

Of course when the hot springs became an important place to come take the cure, dance and gossip, high society came here to spend the winter. Here's the Royal Crescent, the neighborhood to rent a condo in for the British Regency society.
